MODERNIZING SPACES FOR LEARNING, DINING, AND ACCESS
Bemus Point CSD initiated this project at the Maple Grove Junior / Senior High School to modernize aging building systems while rethinking key shared spaces to better serve students, staff, and the broader community. A primary focus was the cafeteria, which is an essential daily student space that also functions as a Board of Education meeting venue. This space had outdated finishes and acoustical challenges for both in-person and livestreamed meetings, highlighting the need for a more flexible, welcoming environment.
Improvements also extended throughout the building with elevator modernization, incorporating refreshed finishes and school colors, classroom UV unit replacements, and track resurfacing to ensure continued safe use by students and community members alike. The scope also allowed for a comprehensive upgrade to the music suite, transforming required ceiling and flooring replacements into an opportunity to enhance the entire learning environment.
The result is a cohesive set of improvements that balance daily student use with after‑hours and community needs, delivering safer, more functional, and modernized spaces throughout the facility. These upgrades position the District to better support learning, accessibility, and public engagement well into the future.
