LAKE SHORE CSD LEADS THE CHARGE IN SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION

Lake Shore CSD has positioned itself as a leader in sustainable school transportation with the introduction of 20 new electric school buses, one of the largest single-district deployments in New York State. The project also included reconstructing the existing bus lot and installing charging infrastructure for the growing electric fleet.

Through strategic planning and a strong partnership network with Young + Wright Architectural, Buffalo Engineering, National Grid, Cummins, NYSERDA, and other specialized contractors, the District successfully delivered an $11 million project with a local share of under $50,000, setting a new benchmark for cost-effective, forward-thinking school transportation.

This project was made possible through a $7.9 million grant from the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean School Bus Program, along with additional state and federal funding. The District also secured more than $2 million from the NY School Bus Incentive Program (NYSBIP), administered by NYSERDA, as well as federal tax credits and incentives from National Grid.

THE DETAILS

“This initiative checks every box — fiscal responsibility, student safety, environmental stewardship, and career readiness. It’s the right thing to do, and I couldn’t be prouder of the team that brought it to life.”

— Daniel Pacos, Former Superintendent
