GAME ON: A GYMNASIUM BUILT FOR CHAMPIONS AND COMMUNITY
Maryvale UFSD faced the challenge of a 1950s-era gymnasium that no longer met the needs of its growing High School and community. With poor lighting, low ceilings, and limited seating, the old space could was unable to accommodate large events or meet modern athletic standards.
Our team expanded the gymnasium footprint, raised the ceiling heights to exceed minimum clearances for indoor sports, and created seating capacity to comfortably host community events, such as pep rallies and concerts. The design brings vibrant pops of color, improved acoustics, modern HVAC, and a high-tech sound system that make the space both energetic and welcoming.
Energy-efficient features like daylight harvesting through high-quality glazing reduced operational costs while enhancing natural light. The fitness center was also strategically relocated to the building’s front for easy public access, while secure team and trainer spaces were centralized near outdoor fields for efficient flow.
Additional improvements included auditorium renovations with upgrades to the sound booth, locker rooms, restrooms, storage, coach’s room, and other flex spaces.
